Yanto Chandra is Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Social Sciences, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Founding Director of the Centre for Social Policy and Social Entrepreneurship (CSPSE).
Chandra’s research examines the micro and meso aspects of entrepreneurial activities that create social, economic, ecological and public wealth. These include the strategies, decision making, interventions, and performance of individuals and organizations in the realm of social entrepreneurship, social innovation, impact investing, sustainability movement, as well as gig economy, and the overall contribution of these activities to improve society and policy making.
His research has been published in various leading journals, including in entrepreneurship (e.g., Journal of Business Venturing), international business (e.g., Journal of International Business Studies), public management (e.g., Public Management Review, Public Administration Review), and development studies (e.g., World Development) and non-profit studies (e.g., Voluntas). He was previously a faculty member at the City University of Hong Kong, University of Leeds (UK) and the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands). Prior to academia, he worked around seven years in multinational firms in banking, public accounting, advertising and marketing research services.
He is Associate Editors of Journal of Social Entrepreneurship, Social Enterprise Journal, and Business Ethics: A European Review, among others.
